Bonsai plants and juniper bonsai trees have always been fascinating to me. Although not necessarily a plant enthusiast, the appeal of culture exemplified through any medium, such as the bonsai, is what interests me. The thousand year old tradition of cultivating bonsai is prominent in many countries. This stems from the efforts of enthusiasts and educators, such as Yvonne Padilla. As the president of the Corpus Christi Bonsai Club, Padilla has big hopes for the Texas State Bonsai Convention this year. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to learn more about the plant through workshops and lectures. If you are a Texan looking to try something new, this convention is the place to start. Hoping that her favorite pastime may become a hobby for others, Padilla travels far and wide showing just how important and enjoyable the bonsai tradition is. Personally, I would jump at this occasion to learn more about the strange beautiful plant and its timeless significance. They say everything is bigger in Texas, but even the tiny bonsai could be deemed massive with its perfect message of seeing beauty steeped in distortion. A chance to gain insight into such a piece of culture should not be passed by.
